In photo-shop, there are so many features to make our photo more appealing . Changing background color is one of the hugely used feature in photo-shop. We use this service almost in every picture to create a natural and lively picture. In this article , I will describe the procedure of changing background color .
Step 1 (Open the software and choose the photo): Open photo-shop. Load your desired image in the photo-shop.
Step 2(Duplicate the layers): Copy the actual image and turn off the main layer. Work with the duplicate layer . If any mistake happens then we can get our original image easily. Select a solid color for the background.
Step 3(Select the tool): Press on the quick selection option . Choose the option named as “Select subject”. If the margins of the selection is not sharped edge and acute, then go and select theMagic wand tool. An outline will be appeared. Pull out the line towards the subject . Select the subject from top to bottom. If the subject carries many small parts in its body for example: (hairs,furs), then hold on the shift key and press on it and select the small regions of the image very carefully.
Step 4(Clear the Edges): Choose the option “Select inverse” to pick the subject. After that select and apply the option named as “Refine Edge”.
This option is used for maintaining the characteristic. Refine edge helps to tune up the selection. Refine edge will pop out a window. It will help us to tune up the selection we made. By using magic wand tool ,
we can have a great section of the background holding out nearby the boundaries of the object or subject.
Step 6(Make a mask): create a mask using the pull down menu . This would helps to display the selection criteria. Using the mask is really convenient as mask helps to make a variation of color for background. Mask helps us to identify the remaining small chunks of color on the subject body.If the background is light color such as : pink, orange or blue then we can apply black color on background to give a stunning look and also it will focus on the subject and if there is any problem on the background then we can easily find out it . And if the background color is dark color then it would good if we use white or transparent color .
Step 7(Apply the brush): After this, apply the brush to color around the borders or margins where the previous color of background can be seen little bit . Using this brush paint effect over the background color , it creates a perfect look .Press to the object and produce a margin where we want to conceal the background. It should be done everywhere we see the backdrop staying in the selection . When all the color is changed and everything is perfect , then click on the OK button .
Step 8: Insert a new backdrop color. Press on the layer mask option and insert a layer mask to the selection. Choose the option from the menu bar named as “Layer”. In the layer option ,choose the “New fill layer” option.
And after that choose the option named as “Solid color”. It would be great if we choose color picker to choose the backdrop color. We can give the backdrop color in such a way so that it matches with it’s subject’s color. Pull out color fill layer under the actual image so that it can make the subjects image visible. This is the whole procedure of changing background color .
Gradient Effect:
To get a gradient effect, elect elliptical marquee tool. Draw the elliptical outline in the center of the subjects body . By doing this, it will focus more on the subject. Now , balance the level to create a fine-tune backdrop. The more bigger outline will be, the more it will give a gradient effect . To avoid a rough margin on the background , select pixel up-to 200. Press to the background and right click on it . Select the option named as “Select Inverse”. The outside margins of the images are balanced. Now, make another layer . Go to the layer > go to the New Adjustment Layer > Go to the options “Levels”. This is used for darkening the margins of the images. To improve the each layer , double click on the layer until we are convinced with the result. Adjust the brightness to create a perfect image look.
How to change a background color with the option( “Fill Layer”):
In the color picker , a window will pop out named as Color picker (New document Background Layer). Go the options named as Layer> Go the option “New fill color”> Select the option named as “Color”. Press OK button and color picker window will popped out. Through color picker , we can choose any kind of color for the background. Press double click on the layer , it will fill the layer as a backdrop. If we make a solid color for background then the product photos look more clear and focused.
How to change the background with object selection tool: Object selection tool help to make a strong background . It is easy for single object such as: furniture,car,watch,bracelet and many more.
Step 1: Open photo-shop . Load the image. Select the object selectiontool. A rectangular outline will be appeared around the object . With that line , select the object. Change the background color into a white color .
Step2: Invert the selection to select the backdrop.
Step 3: From the set menu , go to the select option , choose the option “inverse” or simply press shift+ctrl+I. Background is selected.
Step 4: Press on the Delete key . The background will be detached. Now go to the color picker , choose the white color .
Step 5: Choose brush and we need to ensure that the foreground color is white . Use the brush around the object and background will be turned into white . When it is done , go and press on the deselect button . Background color will be changed and we can see the new background color.
There are so many alternatives to change the background color . Different people use different procedure for changing the background color . Background color should be matched with the image subject. Otherwise the pictures will be lifeless. That is reason background changing is important . By changing the background , we can make the image more beautiful . It also helps to increase the sales . So it is very important .
